Performing opposite of repelem()

I have a 'x' matrix of size 256*256 pixels. At first, using the repelem(x, 2, 2), I made it 512*512 pixels size.
Now, how can I get back my original 256*256 pixels from 512*512 pixels.
Plz help. Thank you..

Read about imresize.
iwant = A(1:2:end,1:2:end) ;
