Why does MATLAB not start on Mac OSX 10.2.x Jaguar after a successful installation?

1 次查看(过去 30 天)
MATLAB 6.5 (R13) installs with no errors on my Mac, and I have successfully started the network license manager. When I double-click on the LaunchMATLAB icon, MATLAB starts, the icon bounces and then disappears. If I try to start it manually from the Terminal, or open the Console, one of the following errors are produced:
Error 1:
ERROR: execution error: No user interaction allowed. (-1713)
Error 2:
ERROR: Error: Shell widget MATLAB has zero width and/or height

You may have a problem with the cache settings in Jaguar. Please try the Jaguar Cache Cleaner from Northern Softworks at:
To run this utility:
1. Close any open applications. NOTE: Running this utility will require a reboot.
2. Double-click on the jcc.dmg image.
3. Double-click on the Jaguar Cache Cleaner 1.1.
4. Double-click on the Jaguar Cache Cleaner icon in the resulting window.
5. When the Jaguar Cache Cleaner starts, enter your admin password.
6. Select the Deep Cleaning option.
7. Select the Clean Local Cache and Clean System Cache options.
8. Click the Clean button.
After rebooting your computer, the Launch MATLAB icon should work properly.
These types of errors can also result from the permissions being improperly set on OroborOSX or XDarwin during installation.
If you installed MATLAB as root, you can go back and change the permissions on OroborOSX and XDarwin so that all users can access it.
Alternatively, you may install MATLAB as a user other than root. You will only have to reset the permission on either OroborOSX or XDarwin, and not necessarily both.
You may also have another Xwindow manager installed such as XTools. You must remove these before installing XDarwin, or OroborOSX, as they have been known to cause compatibility problems.

This problem occurs because MATLAB has been updated via the Jaguar Patch, but XFree86 has either not been updated, or needs to be updated a second time. You can obtain the Jaguar Patch from the Related Solution listed at the bottom of the page and run the XFree86_4.2.0.1-10.2 Update again.
You may also have another Xwindow manager installed such as XTools. You must remove these before installing XDarwin, or OroborOSX, as they have been known to cause compatibility problems.
