Written for undergraduate and graduate students, Introduction to Numerical and Analytical Methods with MATLAB for Engineers and Scientists teaches students to write computer programs on the MATLAB platform with applications to Mechanical and Electrical Engineers. For a first course in computer applications, the first six Chapters are recommended. Topics included in these chapters are MATLAB fundamentals, Taylor series, self-written functions, matrices, system of linear equations, Gauss elimination, and MATLAB's interp1, inv, fzero, roots, quad, and dblquad functions. Later topics include numerical integration of ordinary differential equations, boundary value problems of ordinary differential equations, curve fitting, Simulink, Optimization, Iteration methods, partial differential equations, Laplace transforms, and MATLAB’s ode, polyfit polyval, fminbnd, fminsearch and fmincon functions.
MATLAB and Optimization Toolbox are used to solve examples in the book. A set of MATLAB code files and Simulink model files are available for download. The Optimization Toolbox is also required.
